HOG’S Breath Cafe in Mindarie is building on its enviable reputation for quality and value with a new menu.

Pasta lovers will be pleased with the new spinach and ricotta-filled tortellini in a tomato and basil sauce, topped with shaved parmesan or, for a seafood twist, tortellini served with prawns.

Lemon myrtle salmon, pan-fried salmon sprinkled with a lemon myrtle, coconut and chilli rub and topped with a wild lime sauce, captures the flavours of the Australian bush.

Other newcomers include filled potato skins (chilli con carne, bacon and cheese or tomato and basil salsa), chilli con carne served in a crusty bread loaf, battered barramundi and curly fries and a chicken and rib combo.

Of course, the Hoggies favourites remain, including the signature steak dishes, cooked slowly for 18 hours to maximise flavour and tenderness, and served with a choice of sides and toppings.

Appetisers range from soup and crumbed mushrooms to salt and pepper calamari, chicken tenders, nachos and a finger food combo. Mains include salads (with a new range of dressings), burgers, wraps, sandwiches, chicken, shanks and ribs and there are lean choices for the health conscious.

Be sure to leave room for dessert — luscious Banoffi pie chock-full of banana and caramel custard on a biscuit base, Mississippi mud cake, maple and walnut or rocky road sundae, sticky date pudding and banana split.

There is also a range of coffees to round off your meal.

“We have a diverse menu and the new dishes are sure to become favourites too,” owner Miles Wood, who opened the popular restaurant in mid-2006, said.

“We are proud of our excellent food, value for money and the unmatched level of service – we call it hogspatality.

“If you haven’t been here for dinner before, don’t have lunch, as the delicious food will feed the largest of appetites.”

The upcoming school holidays are a great chance to take advantage of a special deal. A child under 12 can eat free between 5pm and 6.30pm, Monday to Friday, with every adult meal over $23.95.
