MAIN Street Osborne Park, home to umpteen Italian restaurants and overflowing with pizza, pasta and Napolitana, has never been known as the place to go for the exotic soups, salads, curries and stir fries of Thailand.
That is, until now.
Friendly neighbourhood restaurant Porjai Thai Cuisine is the new contender on Main Street, neatly catering for those with a hankering for the delicate marriage of lemongrass, coriander, galangal, basil, coconut and chilli.
This cosy, casual and stylish restaurant, under new management since February, is nestled close enough to the café strip to offer ample parking and far enough to provide a relaxing dining experience.
Reminiscent of the modest, family-owned and run restaurants peppered throughout Thailand, a meal shared at Porjai is sure to be marked by invigorating flavours, mouth-watering aromas, plentiful portions and dedicated service.
The menu features all the classics, such as tom yum, tom kha, green curry, chicken satay, Thai beef salad and pad Thai, as well as a selection of lesser-known meals like the spicy squid salad, chu chee curry and Thai herbs barbeque pork.
Standout options include the fried tofu with delectable peanut sauce, zesty sliced lemon salad, Panaeng curry with lime, basil and coconut and finally the scrumptious pad Thai, a real taste sensation.
Spicing up the Main Street thoroughfare with the fiery, mild, sweet and salty flavours of Thailand, Porjai is the kind of easygoing eatery that is perfect for a relaxing meal for two, a banquet with friends or a tasty takeaway meal.
