By 'big things' I mean those really tacky statues, sculptures or objects which can be seen on the outskirts of many a small (and not so small) Australian town.
Of course, Australia is by no means the only country to indulge in this questionable art form but for some reason we seem to have taken to it with much more enthusiasm than any other.

Oscar Wilde was born in Dublin in 1854. He was a gifted poet, playwright, and wit who was a phenomenon in 19th century England. He took great pleasure in attacking Victorian narrow mindedness and hypocrisy.

Helping out a fellow human being in their time of need can be one of the most satisfying and rewarding things a person can do. Yet while the number of people who need assistance in one form or another seems to always be increasing, the number of people willing to provide assistance appears to be decreasing.

I really like quotes. For me a good quote encapsulates a profound concept in a concise and insightful sentence or two.
