What were you doing on a sunny November day last year? Google knows and now they have pictures to prove it. Google Maps found at http://maps.google.com.au now has what is called STREET VIEW. This feature allows you to select any of the streets outlined in blue and see what that street looks like - literally. Last week, it seemed like everyone at work had Google Street View open, looking at past houses they lived in, taking a walk down a street in Melbourne, or just looking left and right with the click-and-drag feature on Street View.
So how is this a Perth Hack? Here are some ideas for using Google Maps street view:
* send a link to your friends about how your house looks(ed) like
* check out an address that you are sending your ebay goods to
* familiarise yourself with a destination
* "visit" a property investment without even going there
* pass time looking for humourous snaps by the google mobile
* upload the street view link of your business on to your company's website
* find out what the bus stop looks like which you need to get off at
Also, join the internet community in finding random pics taken by the Google Street View cars as they took a snapshot of Australia in 2007. Here are a few links to keep you amused. If you find any more, add a comment or if you would like to bemoan the current advance in technology, here's your chance.
What petrol used to cost..
You think no one saw that? Was this you giving the finger to another driver?
Sleeping on the job seemed safe in a quiet, unassuming street
