One of my favourite times of day with my children is bed time - not because that is the quietest part of the day. No, it's because that is the time we curl up together and read.
It's been part of our routine since they were babies - I wonder how many books we have checked out from our local library...
It's fun, I get gratuitous cuddles and the kids learn so much from it (brag, they are all excellent readers).
I love children's books, and am wondering just what are your favourite children's books to read to your children? I know I have my favourites, so here are my top ten in no particular order:
* Dr Seuss in any form but in particular Cat in The Hat and The Lorax
* Roald Dahl. Miss 9 and I are reading The BFG together
* Matt Dray. Dougal the Rubbish Dump Bear. I highly recommend this picture book - a classic!
* Louise Fitzhugh. Harriet The Spy. Awesome. Still love it.
* Eric Carle. 10 Little Rubber Ducks, a beautiful story
* Stan and Jan Berenstein. Old Hat New Hat, among others
* CS Lewis. Narnia. Need I say more?
* Beatrix Potter. Peter Rabbit. I just love saying Flopsy, Mopsy and Cottontail
* Lauren Child. Charlie and Lola. SO good they made a TV show out of it.
* Max Lucado. Just In Case You Ever Wonder. I cannot get through this book without crying. Tells your child just how special they are.
Agree? Disagree? What have I missed?
