Even Pro’s Crash ask Lance
Crashes are part of cycling be it a race, fun ride or family event.
However in an event like this which is in effect a race (no matter what the event organisers’ may call it) timing is called for, the same as in 2006, Cyclists must be seeded according to their previous year’s time this is essential as this will minimise crashes.

Cyclists without previous years Bike Hike time may be seeded by other timed cycling events held within the previous year.
If no seeding can be proved then start at the back in an un-seeded group.

Organisers take note this event is attracting more cyclists not your average family type bike rider you have to look at the starting groups,

I know and sometimes ride with the lady in that terrible crash she is experienced, fast and competent and should have been seeded for this event.

Cyclists who can not hang in to a fast bunch should not be allowed to start with them,

Riding a bike is easy
Racing is hard

Why not show all the good that comes out of the events, instead of the bad.. It's these sort of pics, which will make the organisers think twice about running the event again.. I Love This Event, it's soo Fun and Challenging... :o) - Hopefully will be there next year... YAY!!!

Perhaps a set of trainer wheels fitted to all entrants bikes should be made compulsory, plus body armour and air bags.

I was riding very close to this lady when she fell and yes it was awful, but we all know the risk when we get on our bikes to take part in these events. At the end of the day, it was an accident and unfortunatly as humans we are always interested to see the 'prangs'. My only hope is that the event will not be stopped because of these accidents, as it was a great ride. My thoughts are with the injured rider and I wish her a speedy recovery. Can't wait for next year!

Why is this website showing people in distress, I rode the bike hike and would not do it again after seeing the first crash and passing the one showed in your photos near Edgewater station.
These people are hurting and you are showing their pictures, you should be ashamed.
