THE songs of legendary UK band Queen are set to dazzle the City of Joondalup’s 2014 Valentine’s Concert at Joondalup resort.

The Music of Queen: A Rock and Symphonic Spectacular will feature stars from the Australian and London’s West End productions of the hit musical We Will Rock You – Mig Ayesa, Michael Falzon, Amanda Harrison and Carly Thomas-Smith – teaming with a five-piece rock band and Perth Symphony Orchestra.

Ayesa said: “I have been performing the music of Queen for over a decade now, ever since I first joined the London cast of We Will Rock You, but I have never heard it performed quite like this.

“The marriage of orchestras and rock bands is a recipe for musical nirvana when it comes to the music of Queen. It is already rich with melodrama and the orchestrations just bring it to a new level.

“Everywhere we perform we are met with standing ovations and generations of devout and hardcore Queen fans leave elated with the experience.

“I am so thrilled to bring this show to WA, where I have performed many times, but it’s my first time in Joondalup, and for a Valentine’s Concert to boot. This is going to be massive.”

Producer of The Music of Queen: A Rock and Symphonic Spectacular, Andrew Wyke, said: “To hear the incredible songs of Queen played live by superb performers and band is amazing.

“To add a symphony orchestra creates a show that can be summed up in one word – epic.”

Joondalup Mayor Troy Pickard said the free Valentine’s Concert brought “our community together for a relaxing night with family and friends while having the opportunity to witness world-class entertainment”.

“The Perth Symphony Orchestra gave those that attended this year’s Valentine’s Concert a night that will long be remembered, and we look forward to seeing them perform with stars from We Will Rock You,” he said.

The Valentine’s Concert will be held on Thursday, February 13 from 7pm and is a free, ticketed event.
Tickets will be available to City of Joondalup residents only because of the limited capacity of the venue from January 18 from City of Joondalup customer service centres:
